More about Paul Francis Webster
Paul Francis Webster was an American lyricist born on December 20, 1907, in New York City, United States. Hailing from a Jewish family, he didn't complete his university education, leaving New York University in 1930 to pursue a career in music. He initially worked as a dance instructor, but by 1931, he began writing song lyrics professionally. His breakout hit was 'Masquerade' in 1932. He went on to win three Academy Awards for Best Original Song, being nominated sixteen times. Webster was particularly successful in the 1950s in the UK and also wrote the lyrics for the Spider-Man theme in 1967. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972, he continued his career until 1983 and passed away on March 18, 1984, in Beverly Hills, California.
