Morfydd Llwyn Owen (1 October 1891 – 7 September 1918) was a Welsh composer, pianist and mezzo-soprano. Prolific in her art, she was also a part of influential intellectual circles but tragically died just before her 27th birthday. She was born in Treforest, Wales, and showed early signs of her musical talent. Owens studied at the University College in Cardiff and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London on a Goring Thomas scholarship. Throughout her career, she accumulated awards and had her works performed at various venues. Owen developed an interest in Russian folk music and was involved with the Welsh Folk-Song Society of London. Her marriage in 1917 to Ernest Jones was marked by personal tensions, and her death at a young age was due to complications from appendicitis.
