Michael Finnissy

Michael Peter Finnissy, born on 17 March 1946, is an English composer, pianist, and pedagogue. His music, known for its dramatic urgency and expressive immediacy, is often associated with the New Complexity movement. Finnissy started composing at a young age and was awarded a Foundation Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music. He is regarded as a prolific composer with over 400 pieces to his name, and his works are notable for their demanding technical requirements and engagement with political and social themes.
