Léo Delibes

Clément Philibert Léo Delibes was a French Romantic composer, influential for his ballets and operas such as Coppélia, Sylvia, and Lakmé which includes the 'Flower Duet'. Born to a musical family, he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Paris at age twelve. Recognized after composing the ballet La Source, his works Coppélia and Sylvia notably advanced modern ballet. Later, he joined the Conservatoire's faculty, teaching composition until his death in Paris at 54【27†source】.
