Austrian composer Johann Nepomuk David was a prominent figure in 20th-century music. Born in Eferding on 30 November 1895, David developed his musical skills as a choirboy at Sankt Florian Monastery and later pursued formal education in Linz. His versatile career included teaching and serving as a professor of music in cities such as Linz, Leipzig, Salzburg, and Stuttgart. David's repertoire encompasses a wealth of orchestral, instrumental, and choral works. His symphonies reflect a stylistic evolution from modal writing to a more dissonant, yet tonal language. He passed away in Stuttgart on 22 December 1977.
