Judy Garland performed Martin's songs including 'The Boy Next Door', 'The Trolley Song', and the Christmas standard 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. A close friend of Garland, he accompanied her in concert performances in the 1950s. Martin's Broadway works include musicals like Best Foot Forward and High Spirits. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, his enduring contributions to American music mark him as a distinguished figure in the realm of musical theater.
