George Dyson

Sir George Dyson KCVO was an English composer and musician. Born in Halifax, Yorkshire, he studied at the Royal College of Music in London. His career included being appointed Director of the RCM, where he steered the institution through World War II and championed high performance standards. Despite experiencing a period of neglect, Dyson's works, which were well-received during his lifetime and written in a traditional idiom, saw a revival in the late 20th century.
