Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara; 5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991) was a British singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of Queen. His four-octave vocal range and flamboyant stage presence captivated audiences globally. Born in Zanzibar to Parsi-Indian parents, he attended English boarding schools in India, then moved to England after the Zanzibar Revolution. Forming Queen in 1970, Mercury's hits include 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Somebody to Love'. Diagnosed with AIDS in 1987, he died in 1991 but remains a significant figure in rock history.
