Edison Vasilievich Denisov was a Russian composer, born in Tomsk, Siberia. Initially a mathematics student, he switched to music, galvanized by Dmitri Shostakovich's support. Denisov studied at the Moscow Conservatory and became a prominent teacher and underground figure in Soviet music. He faced censure but gained international repute, particularly for his work 'Le soleil des Incas'. Post-1990, he was integral to Moscow's Association for Contemporary Music before his demise in France in 1996.
