David Horne, born on 12 December 1970 in Tillicoultry near Stirling, is a Scottish composer, pianist, and teacher. He initiated his piano learning at seven and studied at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh. Afterward, he moved to the United States to attend the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia and eventually obtained a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Horne has been a resident composer with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and has performed as an award-winning pianist with leading British orchestras. He has returned to the United Kingdom and resides in Manchester, where he is a significant figure at the Royal Northern College of Music.
