Bruno Maderna (born Bruno Grossato, 21 April 1920 – 13 November 1973) was an Italian composer, conductor, and academic teacher. He began violin studies at four and conducted orchestral concerts in his early years. After World War II, he taught at the Venice Conservatory and started editing early Italian music. His career expanded internationally in the 1950s, leading to the foundation of various musical institutions. He composed in numerous genres and was also noted for his film scores. Maderna died of lung cancer in Darmstadt in 1973, aged 53.
