Brian Elias is a British composer born on 30 August 1948 in Bombay, India. He moved to the U.K. at the age of thirteen. Elias studied at the Royal College of Music and then with Elisabeth Lutyens. His orchestral work 'L'Eylah' premiered at the BBC Proms in 1984. His ballet 'The Judas Tree', in collaboration with Kenneth MacMillan, premiered in 1992. Elias is a two-time British Composer Award winner, recognized for his works 'Doubles' and 'Electra Mourns'. He has been featured in a retrospective at Wigmore Hall and has taught at the Royal Academy of Music and the Purcell School.
