More about Artur Cimirro
Artur Cimirro is a composer, arranger, pianist, writer and art critic. He has composed works for piano, orchestra, choir, chamber ensemble, opera and ballet. His transcriptions and arrangements, dedicated to the left hand, deal with the exploration of new horizons in piano technique and include notably ambitious projects, such as Liszt’s 12 Transcendental Etudes for the left hand alone. His research on the limits of the piano has led him to compose works for the 102-key/4 pedal pianos by Stuart & Sons, which became part of a CD/DVD in 2011 (Artur Cimirro plays Stuart & Sons in Terra Australis) and also new works for the brand new 108-key piano. As a pianist, Cimirro published his recordings through the Polish label ‘Acte Prealable’, including virtuoso piano music and several world premieres, such as Tausig, Michalowski, Zichy, Szanto, Wieniawski, Dubois, Barrozo Netto, Mereaux and his own works. Cimirro developed the “Scientific System of Interpretation or Musical Hermeneutics” and wrote a book about it, wherein the tradition of piano-playing and some historical mistakes are discussed, presenting the hermeneutic approach to the right musical interpretation. He also started different projects, such as the ‘Youchoose Music Project’, whereby anyone can easily become a Maecenas for brand new piano solo recordings; the ‘Interactive Improvisation’, where the public is invited to suggest numbers which become notes for an one-minute improvisation; and the ‘Opus Dissonus Composition Competition’ which invites composers from all over the world to create new piano solo works of up to 12 minutes duration, offering prizes to the winners and making recordings of them.
