Albert Schnelzer, born in Värmland, Sweden, is a composer whose musical journey took him from being a keyboard player in a rock band to studying at the Malmö Academy of Music from 1994 to 2000, under the tutelage of Sven-David Sandström and Rolf Martinsson. His conducting mentors included Gunnar Staern and Lars Jensen. Furthering his studies in the UK, Schnelzer honed his skills at the Royal College of Music with Julian Anderson and John Carewe. His compositional acclaim began with winning the 'Composer of Tomorrow' competition in 1998 with his orchestral work 'Erupto' and he joined the Society of Swedish Composers in 2001.
