Al Dubin was an influential American lyricist known for his collaborations with composer Harry Warren. He was born into a Russian Jewish family that moved to the United States from Switzerland when Dubin was just two. His Broadway influences began early, writing material for vaudevillians at age 14. Dubin's hit songs from various film musicals include 'Tiptoe through the Tulips', '42nd Street', and 'Lullaby of Broadway', which won the 1936 Academy Award for Best Original Song. Despite personal struggles later in life, Dubin's legacy endures, including induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
